David di Michelangelo

David by Michelangelo

Why do we love of Florence? What are its symbols?
First things that come to my mind are the Brunelleschi’s Dome of the Cathedral and the Michelangelo’s statue of David.

I had already represented the Dome (and the Cathedral) in different occasions but the David was for me too complicated for a painted bag. This until I’ve seen a picture participating in the contest “Snapshots on Florence”, organized by the City of Florence in collaboration with the Portal Life Beyond Tourism (here you see all the photos: http://www.lifebeyondtourism.org/photoblog/contest/4/Istantanea-su-Firenze—Snapshot-on-Florence).

The picture was amazing (but unfortunately it didn’t win)! This David located in Piazzale Michelangelo with a gorgeous illumination was very representative and at the same time easy to replicate.
From this outline more ideas came and I’m looking forward to a sunny weekend in order to take some nice pictures.
